About Scouting

Scouting in the UK offers fun and everyday adventure to over 573,000 young people between the ages of 4-25 across the United Kingdom.

At the time of writing our annual subscription fee is £150. This covers the cost of insurance, weekly programme and some of the costs of running the Group. You will also to need to purchase a uniform (approx £50). Camps and other activities are charged separately. We do have support available to help those that cannot afford these costs.
Yes, all are Leaders are DBS checked before working with our members. We also provide extensive training to all our Leaders in the area of Child Protection which is refreshed regularly. Our Leaders are also trained in basic First Aid and risk assessment to make sure our activities are as safe as we can make them.

Explorers do a wide range of activities ranging from craft work, learning new skills, playing games, local (and not so local) visits, ‘Scouting Skills’ and badgework to more Adventurous activities such as Camping, Kayaking, Canoeing, Mountain Walking and shooting. Explorers can also work towards earning badges and challenge awards that help us provide a varied and exciting programme. We like to call it #SkillsforLife.

We also encourage our members to help us plan their own programme.

Yes, everyone is able to join Scouts – girls included!
